What fundamental research can one do (if any) to facilitate a successful spread betting strategy, other than observing technical indicators and candlesticks, or is it not really worth doing (other than being aware of what’s happening in the news etc.)?
Trading is all about developing a strategy where you gain more than you lose consistently in a disciplined and organised way.
For day trading, the research you need is mostly technical analysis. If you take a longer term perspective, it’s useful to keep an eye on economic news so as to ensure you are not trying to fight the wider market. Even for day trading, there are certain economic announcements that are important to follow like interest rate announcements and USA non-farm payrolls and in such scenarios it may be prudent to exit the market before these reports are released.
